My mother-in-law only recently upgraded to a Samsung S8 Edge. She keeps getting popup ads randomly when unlocking the phone. They comprehend annihilation on the screen, even recent apps. You lot can also close the ad with a fiddling 10 at the top right. Is there whatsoever way to get rid of these?

Welcome as a new member. There is no S8 Edge, + mayhap? But, aforementioned thing. Ads similar that are caused by an app or apps that were installed. Yous can sometimes tell by the ads which app is causing them, then remove that app. As the phone is not very onetime, information technology might exist a good idea, if she hasn't used it much, to do factory reset which should remove those.

New Member but first have to say to MSP1518 why are y'all commenting on this Samsung S8+ thread when you are an IPhone user? Your fix is not going to exist the same equally an Andriod.

I am at present getting these pop upwards ads and they are happening when my screen is locked. I hear low voices thinking I am going mad and turns out to exist an ad running on my phone while information technology is in my pocket.

This did non get-go happening until the final Software update came through last week. I honestly don't remember it is an app since I have non added whatever new apps and went in to every one on my phone and disabled all the notifications and other things. @PJRed2008 do you have any idea what else can be causing this? I am nigh ready to go to Verizon and return this telephone since I haven't even had information technology for 30 days all the same and it's driving me crazy. The terminal thing I need is ane of these ads to start running in my pocket while I am sitting in a meeting with a customer.

They are more than than occasional too, happens at to the lowest degree a dozen times a day.

These are not necessarily seen as the aforementioned equally those notifications. I insta-one-star whatsoever crApp that spams my notifications only have notwithstanding to see pop-up ads. There is a setting in Bixby about Promotions. Have y'all installed any "questionable" apps? Anything that promises free wallpaper? Gratuitous youtube downloading? Anything like that? It could've been an update to one of those apps too.

Check the Bixby settings for promotions, but across that, try uninstalling apps.

Are we immune to suggest programs that block sure DNS queries that would cause these popups? (Trying to be vague just in instance)

What else could crusade these ads if not one of your apps? It'southward certainly not normal beliefs for an S8/S8+.

If you boot into Safe Style for a while (which temporarily disables all your add together-on apps), y'all'll see that the popular-ups terminate.

I advise installing Adguard as mentioned in a higher place. Guaranteed it will forbid any app from doing what your free app is doing.

I have not had an app do this to me in about two years now.

The Adguard app gives you lot a 7 day trial for gratis. Subsequently that you can pay for a lifetime license or yearly.

It blocks ads in apps through the use of a VPN. It sounds like you don't have the correct app installed.

Yes, Google doesn't permit sure adblocker apps in the play store because ads are how Google makes the majority of their coin.

Apple has begun doing the same thing with adblockers that use VPNs to cake ads in apps.

Its either an app or malware/adware or some other sort of ware. A photo would be a lot of assist when diagnosis stuff like this. Y'all shouldn't need to have an app such every bit Adguard to forestall mischievous pop up adds.

    Adguard will block those ads.

Google makes Chrome and Google makes the majority of their income from ads. They don't like when people block their ads and they try and control what happens in Chrome.
